Long-Term Outcomes of Midurethral Slings: A Narrative Review of Objective and Patient-Reported Trajectories

This narrative review aims to characterize the long-term outcomes of midurethral sling (MUS) procedures for stress urinary incontinence (SUI) by synthesizing evidence from studies with at least 10 years of follow-up. The findings indicate that while objective cure rates remain high, subjective patient-reported outcomes are influenced by evolving storage symptoms, particularly de novo overactive bladder (OAB), and late complications. The authors emphasize the need for more comprehensive assessments of long-term outcomes that go beyond binary measures of continence.
