Diabetes Mellitus and Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections

Listen to this summary

The authors aim to clarify the diabetes-specific risk factors and management strategies for urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women with diabetes mellitus, as existing evidence-based guidance is limited. Through a systematic review and consensus process involving urogynecologists, they identified key areas related to epidemiology, risk factors, and prevention/treatment of UTIs in this population. The findings highlight a significant need for further research, particularly prospective studies, to better understand the efficacy of UTI management in women with diabetes.
