Five-Year Follow-Up of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement With Self-Expanding Intra-Annular Versus Commercially Available Valves

This study aimed to evaluate the long-term outcomes of the self-expanding intra-annular Portico transcatheter aortic valve compared to commercially available valves in patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis at high or extreme surgical risk. The results indicated that, after five years, the self-expanding valve had similar rates of all-cause mortality and stroke as the commercially available valves, although it was associated with a higher rate of permanent pacemaker implantation and a lower mean transvalvular gradient. Overall, the findings suggest comparable efficacy and safety profiles between the two valve types over the five-year period.
