Health Communication and Stepped Reminders Interventions for Lung Cancer Screening: A Randomized Clinical Trial

The authors aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of two patient-centered interventions—health communication and Stepped Reminders—on increasing adherence to annual lung cancer screening (LCS) among patients with normal findings. The study found that while health communication did not significantly improve adherence, the Stepped Reminders intervention substantially increased screening rates, particularly among current tobacco users. This suggests that targeted reminder systems can enhance compliance with guideline-concordant LCS in primary care settings.
