Autonomous Oxygen Titration for Maintaining Normoxemia in Acutely Ill Adults: The SAVE-O2 AI Randomized Clinical Trial

The authors aimed to determine whether autonomous oxygen titration could increase the time acutely ill adults spent in the targeted normoxemia range compared to usual care. The study found that patients receiving autonomous oxygen titration spent significantly more time in the normoxemia range (85% vs. 63%) and less time in hypoxemia (2.0% vs. 3.6%) than those under manual titration by clinicians. These results suggest that autonomous titration may improve oxygen management in hospitalized patients.
