Incidence, survival, and symptoms at recurrence among vulvar cancer patients treated with curative intent: a population-based cohort study

This study aimed to investigate the incidence of recurrences, survival rates following primary diagnosis and recurrences, and the symptoms preceding the first recurrence in patients with vulvar cancer treated with curative intent. The findings revealed that vulvar cancer recurrences are common, particularly isolated local recurrences, and that overall survival significantly declines after recurrence, with most patients experiencing identifiable symptoms prior to their first recurrence. The authors emphasize the importance of symptom awareness to facilitate early detection and treatment of recurrent disease.
