Molecular subtypes of stage III vulvar squamous cell carcinoma predict recurrence and survival outcomes

The authors aimed to investigate the association between molecular subtypes of stage III vulvar squamous cell carcinoma (vSCC) and oncologic outcomes, specifically recurrence and disease-specific mortality. Their findings indicate that while HPV-independent tumors, particularly those with TP53 mutations, are linked to worse survival outcomes, the molecular classification did not significantly predict recurrence rates within five years. This study highlights the potential for molecularly informed risk stratification and treatment strategies in managing stage III vSCC.
