Alcohol Use Following GLP-1 Receptor Agonist Therapy in the Cooper Center Longitudinal Study

The authors aimed to investigate the relationship between glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA) therapy and changes in alcohol consumption among outpatient adults. Their analysis revealed that participants on GLP-1RA experienced a significant reduction in weekly alcohol intake compared to a control group; however, this association diminished when accounting for weight loss. The findings suggest that the reduction in alcohol use may be linked to weight changes associated with GLP-1RA treatment.
