Injury and recovery patterns of the blood-testis barrier and spermatogenic function in a surgical unilateral cryptorchidism model in rats
Listen to this summary
The authors aimed to investigate the injury and recovery patterns of the blood-testis barrier (BTB) and spermatogenic function in a surgical unilateral cryptorchidism model in rats. Their findings indicate that while short-term cryptorchidism leads to reversible testicular atrophy and spermatogenic dysfunction, prolonged retention (4 weeks or longer) results in irreversible BTB damage and persistent spermatogenic abnormalities.
