Continuous or Fixed-Duration Maintenance Therapy in Multiple Myeloma

This phase 3 trial aimed to determine whether indefinite-duration maintenance therapy with lenalidomide leads to better overall survival compared to fixed-duration therapy (2 years) in patients with standard-risk newly diagnosed multiple myeloma not receiving up-front autologous stem-cell transplantation. The results showed no significant difference in overall survival between the two groups, although progression-free survival was slightly better in the indefinite-duration group. Additionally, the indefinite-duration therapy was associated with a higher incidence of adverse events.
