Neonatal Survival After Serial Amnioinfusions for Anhydramnios Due to Fetal Kidney Failure: The RAFT Clinical Trial
Listen to this summary
The RAFT Clinical Trial aimed to evaluate the efficacy of serial amnioinfusions initiated before 26 weeks' gestation in mitigating lethal pulmonary hypoplasia in neonates with anhydramnios due to fetal kidney failure. The study found that 65.5% of live-born neonates survived for 14 days or longer with dialysis access, and factors such as the number of amnioinfusions and gestational age at delivery were associated with improved survival outcomes. Overall, the findings suggest that serial amnioinfusions can be beneficial in this population, although significant neonatal morbidity and mortality remain concerns.
