Revision Indication Is Associated with Early Mortality After Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Population-Based Study

The authors aimed to evaluate the 30- and 90-day mortality rates following revision total hip arthroplasty (R-THA) and to identify risk factors associated with early mortality. Their findings indicate that while overall mortality rates are low, patients undergoing R-THA for periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) and periprosthetic fracture (PPFx) experience significantly higher mortality risks compared to those revised for aseptic loosening. Additionally, the study highlights that the extent of the revision procedure does not influence mortality outcomes.
