Comparative Outcomes of Patello-Femoral and Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty: A Propensity-Matched Analysis at Two, Five, and 10 Years

This study aimed to compare the long-term outcomes of patello-femoral arthroplasty (PFA) and unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) regarding reoperation rates and implant survivorship over two, five, and ten years. The results indicated that while PFA had significantly higher rates of subsequent knee arthroscopy and revision surgery, both procedures demonstrated comparable implant survivorship and conversion rates to total knee arthroplasty. These findings suggest that the increased likelihood of secondary procedures associated with PFA should be a key consideration in surgical decision-making.
