Pre-Reduction Position of Posterior Wall Fragment is Associated with Intra-Articular Displacement

The authors aimed to identify the rate and risk factors for posterior wall fragments becoming intra-articular after closed reduction in posterior acetabular fracture-dislocations. Their findings revealed that a significant proportion (47.7%) of fragments positioned medial to the femoral head prior to reduction displaced into the joint, with inferior positioning also contributing to this outcome. This study highlights the importance of recognizing fragment morphology for improved surgical planning and management.
