Impact of palliative radiotherapy in patients with gynecologic malignancies on end-of-life outcomes

The authors aimed to investigate the impact of palliative radiotherapy on end-of-life (EOL) outcomes in patients with gynecologic malignancies. Their findings revealed that while late palliative radiotherapy was linked to less aggressive EOL care and lower hospitalization rates, EOL radiation was associated with more aggressive care and higher rates of death in hospital. This study highlights the differing effects of timing and type of radiotherapy on healthcare utilization at the end of life.
