Intracranial haemorrhage following tenecteplase fibrinolysis for acute myocardial infarction

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to identify risk factors for intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) following tenecteplase (TNK) administration in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and to develop a clinical risk prediction tool. Their analysis of data from six randomized controlled trials revealed that higher systolic blood pressure, increasing age, female sex, and lower body weight were associated with an elevated risk of ICH. The findings suggest that optimizing blood pressure and considering dose adjustments of TNK in older patients may help mitigate this risk.
