Exercise stress echocardiography for diagnosis of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction: a multicentre study

This study investigates whether exercise stress echocardiography can enhance the diagnosis of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) compared to existing diagnostic algorithms. The authors found that while current non-invasive methods have limited sensitivity, incorporating resting left atrial compliance significantly improved diagnostic accuracy, allowing for better classification of patients and reducing the need for invasive testing. Ultimately, the study suggests that while exercise echocardiography can aid in diagnosis, it cannot fully replace invasive methods.
