Storage-Pressure Urodynamic Risk in Children With Radiological Suspicion of Tethered Spinal Cord: A Single-Center Retrospective Comparative Study

The authors aimed to compare the prevalence of unsafe storage-pressure urodynamic findings in children with radiological suspicion or confirmation of tethered spinal cord against those without such tethering. Their study found that unsafe urodynamic patterns were significantly more common in the tethered group, although a notable percentage of children with radiological tethering exhibited safe findings, indicating that MRI alone cannot reliably predict functional bladder safety. Additionally, factors such as increased post-void residual urine and hydronephrosis were identified as potential indicators of higher risk, warranting further investigation.
