Oocyte donors' health before and after their donation-a national Swedish register study

This study investigates whether Swedish oocyte donors have similar health outcomes compared to age-matched controls regarding medical conditions, medication use, and hospitalization before and up to 15 years after donation. The findings reveal that oocyte donors experience higher rates of outpatient healthcare utilization, increased diagnoses of genitourinary and mental disorders, and greater medication use compared to controls, suggesting that pre-donation health assessments may not effectively identify women at lower risk for future health issues.
