The impact of unilateral endometriomas on ovarian response to stimulation: a systematic review and meta-analysis

The authors aimed to investigate how unoperated unilateral endometriomas affect ovarian response during stimulation cycles. Their systematic review and meta-analysis found that ovaries with unoperated endometriomas had similar outcomes to unaffected ovaries in terms of oocyte retrieval and quality, although the number of embryos formed was significantly lower in affected ovaries. These results suggest that small endometriomas may not adversely impact ovarian stimulation outcomes, prompting a reconsideration of the necessity for surgical intervention prior to IVF/ICSI.
