Residual Myometrial Thickness and Scar Elastography After Single- Versus Double-Layer Uterine Closure Following Primary Cesarean Delivery: A Prospective Cohort Study

The study aimed to compare residual myometrial thickness and cesarean scar elastography outcomes between single-layer and double-layer uterine closure techniques following primary cesarean delivery. Results indicated that double-layer closure resulted in greater residual myometrial thickness, higher elastography scores, and a reduced need for additional hemostatic sutures compared to single-layer closure. While these findings suggest more favorable early postoperative scar characteristics, the authors note that the clinical significance for long-term reproductive and obstetric outcomes remains unclear.
