Added Value of Estimated Fetal Weight Growth Velocity to Doppler Evaluation for the Prediction of Perinatal Outcomes Among Foetuses With EFW < 10th Centile at Term: A Retrospective Cohort Study
Listen to this summary
The authors aimed to determine whether the growth velocity of estimated fetal weight (EFW) provides additional predictive value for adverse perinatal outcomes in term fetuses with EFW below the 10th centile, beyond standard Doppler evaluations. Their retrospective cohort study found that while slow EFW growth velocity was common and correlated with certain adverse indicators, it did not significantly improve the prediction of composite adverse outcomes compared to established Doppler and biometric criteria. Thus, the study questions the clinical utility of incorporating EFW growth velocity into routine assessments for this population.
