Menarche, menopause, reproductive life span and menopause-specific quality of life: a cohort study

Listen to this summary

This study aimed to explore how the age of menarche, age at menopause, and reproductive life span relate to menopausal symptoms in midlife Chinese women. The findings revealed that earlier menopause and a shorter reproductive life span were linked to increased discomfort in the sexual domain of the Menopause-Specific Quality of Life (MENQOL) questionnaire, while associations with vasomotor symptoms emerged in postmenopausal analyses. No significant relationships were found for psychosocial or physical domains.
