Comparison of 3-Dimensional Ultrasound and Computed Tomography for Imaging of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms
Listen to this summary
This study aims to compare the effectiveness of three-dimensional ultrasound (3D US) and three-dimensional contrast-enhanced ultrasound (3D-CEUS) against contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CTA) for imaging abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs). The findings indicate that while 3D-CEUS provides larger lumen volume measurements compared to CTA, 3D US offers a feasible and promising alternative for AAA assessment, particularly due to its lack of harmful radiation and nephrotoxic agents. Overall, the results suggest that 3D US and 3D-CEUS are viable imaging modalities that warrant further investigation in larger studies.
