Aberration-guided Intraocular Lens Power Calculation in Keratoconus: Ray Tracing Optimization

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to evaluate the accuracy of ray tracing optimization (RTO) for predicting postoperative refractive error in patients with keratoconus undergoing cataract surgery. The study found that RTO provided reliable predictions, particularly in eyes with predominant vertical coma, with a significant percentage of eyes falling within ±0.5D and ±1.0D of the predicted refraction. These results suggest that incorporating higher-order aberrations into intraocular lens power calculations can enhance surgical outcomes in keratoconic patients.
