Vertical Gas Breakthrough Complicating Femtosecond LASIK: Incidence, Management, and Visual Outcomes in a Retrospective Case Series

The authors aimed to characterize the incidence, management strategies, and early visual outcomes associated with vertical gas breakthrough (VGB) during femtosecond LASIK procedures. In a review of 7,746 eyes, VGB occurred in 23 cases (0.3%), primarily near the hinge of the flap, and was managed effectively with various approaches, resulting in favorable postoperative visual outcomes across all management strategies.
