Risk factors for late intraocular lens dislocation: a systematic review and meta-analysis

The authors aimed to quantify the associations between various risk factors and late intraocular lens (IOL) dislocation following uncomplicated cataract surgery. Through a systematic review and meta-analysis, they identified that zonular weakness, ocular trauma, uveitis, and pseudoexfoliation syndrome were the strongest risk factors, while myopia and glaucoma showed moderate associations. The study highlights the importance of structural and inflammatory damage to the capsular-zonular complex in the occurrence of late IOL dislocation.
