Pulmonary Vein Reconnection Characteristics After Index Pulsed Field vs Radiofrequency Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation

This study aimed to compare the anatomical distribution and extent of pulmonary vein (PV) reconnection in patients undergoing repeat atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation after initial procedures using pulsed field ablation (PFA) versus radiofrequency ablation (RFA). The findings revealed that PV reconnection was more frequent and extensive in patients who had undergone PFA, particularly affecting the left PVs, compared to those who had RFA. The results suggest significant differences in the patterns of PV reconnection between the two ablation techniques, although they do not provide a direct comparison of the durability of pulmonary vein isolation.
