Quality, Cost, and Timeliness of Cancer Treatment in Medicare Advantage and Traditional Medicare
Listen to this summary
This study investigates whether the type of Medicare insurance—Medicare Advantage (MA) or Traditional Medicare (TM)—affects the quality and cost of cancer treatment. The authors found that while MA beneficiaries had similar rates of receiving optimal cancer treatment compared to TM beneficiaries, they experienced significantly lower treatment costs. Overall, the findings suggest that MA may provide cost-effective cancer care without compromising treatment quality.
