Intravesical HA/EGF Salvage Therapy for Hyaluronic Acid-Refractory Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome: A Small Retrospective Pilot Case Series

The authors aimed to evaluate the efficacy of intravesical hyaluronic acid combined with epidermal growth factor (HA/EGF) as a salvage therapy for patients with interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) who did not respond to prolonged hyaluronic acid treatment. In a small retrospective pilot case series, they found significant improvements in pain, bladder capacity, and overall symptoms in the majority of patients, suggesting that HA/EGF may be a promising option for those refractory to standard HA therapy. However, the authors emphasize the need for further prospective controlled studies to validate these preliminary findings.
