Endometrial thickness in patients with postmenopausal bleeding and endometrial cancer: A retrospective cohort study

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to evaluate the relationship between endometrial thickness (ET) and cancer subtype in patients with postmenopausal bleeding (PMB), while controlling for incomplete endometrial visualization. Their findings indicate that, when the endometrium is fully visualized, there is no significant difference in ET between endometrioid and non-endometrioid cancers, suggesting that relying solely on a 4 mm ET cutoff may result in missed diagnoses. The study highlights the importance of universal endometrial sampling to improve detection rates, particularly in patients with non-endometrioid cancers, which are more likely to have incomplete visualization.
