Clinical Outcomes and Impact of Aortic Valve Replacement in Concordant vs. Discordant High-Gradient Aortic Stenosis

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to investigate the clinical outcomes and impact of aortic valve replacement (AVR) in patients with discordant high-gradient aortic stenosis (DHG-AS) compared to those with concordant high-gradient aortic stenosis (CHG-AS). Their findings revealed that while DHG-AS patients had lower AVR rates and higher unadjusted mortality, AVR significantly improved survival in DHG-AS patients, suggesting that timely intervention is crucial for this group. Ultimately, after accounting for AVR, survival rates between DHG-AS and CHG-AS were not significantly different.
