Contingency Management for Stimulant-Opioid Co-Use: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Listen to this summary

This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of contingency management in improving treatment outcomes for individuals with stimulant-opioid co-use. The findings indicate that contingency management significantly enhances the duration of continuous abstinence and increases the likelihood of submitting negative urine samples for both substances, although overall treatment retention did not differ significantly between groups. The study highlights a critical gap in research regarding treatment strategies for co-use involving synthetic opioids like fentanyl.
