Redesigning 9-1-1 Paramedic Pathways: Evaluation of the IMPACC Model of Care

The authors aimed to evaluate whether the IMPACC model of care, designed to improve alignment between patient needs and care pathways in the 9-1-1 system, could effectively reduce unnecessary hospital transports for lower-acuity cases. Their findings indicate that IMPACC-activated encounters had significantly lower transport rates and greater clinical engagement compared to standard practices, although the implementation required more time on task.
