Prehospital Whole Blood Transfusion During Medically Directed Rescue of an Entrapped Trauma Patient: A Case Report

This case report explores the effectiveness of coordinated prehospital blood transfusion programs and Hospital Emergency Response Teams (HERT) in managing a trauma patient who was entrapped following a severe motor vehicle collision. The authors aim to demonstrate how the integration of these resources can improve patient outcomes during prolonged rescue operations by providing advanced care and timely blood transfusions in the prehospital setting. The findings suggest that such collaborative efforts can significantly enhance trauma care when rapid transport is not feasible.
