Targeted vitamin D supplementation and major adverse cardiovascular events after myocardial infarction: the TARGET-D trial

The TARGET-D trial aimed to determine whether targeted vitamin D supplementation could reduce major adverse cardiovascular events in patients following a myocardial infarction. Despite high prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency among participants, the study found no significant difference in major cardiovascular outcomes between those receiving targeted vitamin D management and those receiving usual care. However, a notable reduction in myocardial infarction rates was observed in the vitamin D group compared to usual care.
