Preoperative Proximal Migration of the Radial Head as an Independent Predictor of Suboptimal Outcomes After Osteochondral Autograft Transplantation for Capitellar Osteochondritis Dissecans: A Retrospective Cohort Study

The authors aimed to identify preoperative risk factors associated with suboptimal outcomes after osteochondral autograft transplantation (OAT) for capitellar osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) in adolescent athletes. They found that preoperative proximal migration of the radial head was the only independent predictor of suboptimal postoperative outcomes, with a cutoff value of 2.2 mm indicating a higher risk for poor results. Overall, while OAT led to significant clinical improvements, 28% of patients still experienced suboptimal outcomes.
