Adductor Canal Block and Local Anesthetic Versus Local Anesthetic Alone in ACL Reconstruction: A Double-Blind Randomized Controlled Trial

This study aimed to determine whether the combination of adductor canal block (ACB) and local infiltration analgesia (LIA) provides superior postoperative analgesia compared to LIA alone in patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). The results indicated no significant differences in postoperative opioid consumption, pain scores, or functional recovery between the two groups, suggesting that LIA alone is sufficient for effective pain management in this context. Consequently, the authors recommend against the routine use of ACB in ACLR to optimize perioperative efficiency and reduce resource expenditure.
