Efficacy and safety of once-weekly subcutaneous zenagamtide, a novel unimolecular GLP-1 and amylin receptor agonist, in type 2 diabetes: a multicentre, randomised, parallel, double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose-finding, phase 2 trial

The authors aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of once-weekly subcutaneous zenagamtide, a novel unimolecular GLP-1 and amylin receptor agonist, in adults with type 2 diabetes. The phase 2 trial demonstrated that zenagamtide significantly reduced HbA1c levels compared to placebo across various doses, with a safety profile similar to existing GLP-1 and amylin therapies. Most adverse events were mild to moderate, primarily gastrointestinal, and no deaths occurred during the study.
