Ralinepag for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (ADVANCE OUTCOMES): a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 study
Listen to this summary
The authors aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ralinepag, a selective prostacyclin IP receptor agonist, in treating pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) compared to placebo. The phase 3 trial found that ralinepag significantly reduced the risk of first clinical worsening events in PAH patients receiving contemporary background therapy, although it was associated with a higher rate of treatment discontinuations due to adverse events. These findings support ralinepag as a viable oral treatment option for PAH.
