Comparison of KDIGO and nRIFLE criteria for acute kidney injury in neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy

This study aimed to compare the KDIGO and neonatal RIFLE (nRIFLE) criteria for diagnosing acute kidney injury (AKI) in neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) and to assess their clinical relevance. The findings indicated that nRIFLE criteria identified more cases of AKI and correlated with greater clinical severity, suggesting that nRIFLE may be a more effective tool for recognizing renal dysfunction in this vulnerable population.
