Autologous Semitendinosus Hamstring Tendon Transplant for Female Urinary Stress Incontinence Treatment (Anat-SUBLIM: Anatomy for Suburethral Ligamentoplasty): A Cadaver Model
Listen to this summary
This cadaveric study aimed to compare the morphometric characteristics of semitendinosus (STT) and gracilis (GT) hamstring tendons for their potential use as autologous alternatives to synthetic slings in treating female stress urinary incontinence (SUI). The findings revealed that STT has greater length and thickness than GT, making it a viable option for suburethral placement via vaginal and retropubic approaches. The successful harvesting and placement of STT in this model suggest its potential as an effective autologous solution for SUI treatment.
