Return-to-Sport Outcomes After Suture Button Fixation for Syndesmotic Injury in Elite Athletes With Chronic Lateral Ankle Instability: A Prospective Case Series

The authors aimed to evaluate the functional outcomes and return-to-sport (RTS) metrics following the combined arthroscopic modified Broström procedure (AMBP) and suture button fixation (SBF) for elite athletes with chronic lateral ankle instability and syndesmotic injury. The study found a high RTS rate of 98.5% and significant improvements in patient-reported outcomes, with preoperative syndesmotic area and postoperative weight management identified as key prognostic factors for better clinical outcomes.
