Psychometric Properties of the Patient Dignity Inventory in a Longitudinal Cohort of Acute Respiratory Failure Survivors

The authors aimed to validate the Patient Dignity Inventory (PDI) for assessing dignity in survivors of acute respiratory failure (ARF) by evaluating its internal consistency, generalizability, and establishing a minimal clinically important difference (MCID). Their findings indicate that the PDI is a reliable and valid tool, demonstrating excellent internal consistency and the ability to capture evolving dignity-related concerns over time in ARF survivors. This validation provides a foundation for future dignity-centered interventions tailored to the needs of this population.
