Effects of Abdominal Electrical Stimulation Combined With Airway Clearance Techniques in Tracheotomized Patients With Neurological Disorders: A Randomized, Controlled Trial

This study investigates whether combining abdominal electrical stimulation with airway clearance techniques improves decannulation success in tracheostomized patients with neurological disorders. The results indicate that the experimental group experienced a significantly higher decannulation success rate and enhanced cough efficacy compared to the control group, although no differences were found in infection control or diaphragmatic mobility. Overall, the findings suggest that abdominal electrical stimulation may be a beneficial adjunct to airway clearance methods in this patient population.
