Comparison of Kirpa Kit™ manual hemodialysis device to standard continuous kidney replacement therapy in vitro

The authors aimed to compare the performance of the Kirpa Kit™, a low-cost manual hemodialysis device, with the standard Prismaflex™ automated continuous kidney replacement therapy (CKRT) system under controlled in vitro conditions. The results indicated that the Kirpa Kit™ achieved comparable blood urea nitrogen (BUN) reduction to the Prismaflex™, despite a significantly lower cumulative ultrafiltration volume, suggesting its viability as a dialysis option in resource-limited settings.
