The authors aimed to investigate the impact of early volume expansion on long-term kidney outcomes in children with Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli hemolytic uremic syndrome (STEC-HUS) and severe acute kidney injury. Their findings indicate that early volume expansion is associated with shorter dialysis duration and better kidney function at follow-up, suggesting that timely fluid management can reduce the risk of severe long-term kidney sequelae.
