Calciphylaxis in children: a case series and systematic review

The authors investigate the characteristics and outcomes of calciphylaxis in pediatric patients, a rare and severe condition primarily seen in children with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Through a systematic review and analysis of two additional cases, they identify key risk factors such as secondary hyperparathyroidism and hyperphosphatemia, and highlight the high mortality associated with the condition, particularly in treatment-refractory cases.
