Impact of post-filter ionized calcium target range on circuit survival and citrate-related complications in pediatric continuous kidney replacement therapy

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to determine the impact of different post-filter ionized calcium target ranges (low-target 0.25-0.35 mmol/L vs. high-target 0.30-0.40 mmol/L) on circuit survival and citrate-related complications in pediatric continuous kidney replacement therapy. Their findings indicate that while circuit survival was similar between the two groups, the higher target range significantly reduced citrate exposure and metabolic complications, such as hypocalcemia and citrate accumulation.
