Clinical features and long-term surgical outcomes of ureteral endometriosis with hydroureteronephrosis: a retrospective study

Listen to this summary

This study aimed to compare the clinical features and long-term surgical outcomes of two surgical approaches—ureterolysis with nodule excision and segmental ureterectomy with anastomosis—in patients with ureteral endometriosis complicated by hydroureteronephrosis. The findings indicated that while ureterolysis was performed in the majority of cases with acceptable long-term outcomes, segmental ureterectomy was reserved for more complex cases, particularly those with intrinsic lesions or prior surgical history. Overall, the study highlights the need for careful patient selection in determining the appropriate surgical intervention for this condition.
